The trailer that came with my boat ('99 253) appears to be in good shape.  I'm wondering if there is a way to get a spare wheel & tire for not too much $ or trouble.

I don't care if it matches, so I'm am interested in what places you think I should look for options (junk yard, scrap yard, boat yard, etc.)

At the same time, I've posted this here in case the vendor stops by and can give the specs of the wheel I'll need.

I have one installed on mine, (dealer charged quite a bit) but just go to West Marine.  On the section labeled trailer you can find hangers and spare tires, but the tires and rims like all things from West Marine can be pricey.  Bias ply cost less than the radials.

I didn't thnk they had wheels as big as what I need, but the bracket will probably come from there.  Thanks, I'll check again.  I probably have enough West Marine bucks from their rebate program to get one.

For now, I'm carrying a can of fix-a-flat just in case but from what I've seen, if a trailer tire is going to have an issue, it's gonna shred apart.

Did you find anything? Post a pic of your trailer...

Maybe something from this search would work:

This one is interesting:

That's a spare hub and a spare tire carrier.

Chunder,

That sure does look like my 253...  Interesting how consistent the lines are.

Thanks for that pic.  Good ideas.  Thanks!

Update:  I ended up getting a spare...actually 2 of them.  A locking bracket to keep it on and a cover.  One spare matches the original wheels and the other is just a regular steel one.
